After a record year last year Global Metal Finishers have successfully bought out a company in liquidation and retained its existing body of staff.  The assets of the company have been saved, and with a substantial investment of approximately £750,000, have been relocated from Bilston to a site in Blakenhall, Wolverhampton next to Global Metal Finisher’s existing premises.  The company’s capacity has now been drastically increased, particularly for rack zinc electroplating and barrel zinc electroplating for mass volume production.

The new site has increased their plant space from 20,000 sq. ft. to 32,000 sq. ft.  Commenting on the acquisition of the new site and its relocation next to their existing premises Managing Director, Ranjit Dudrah, said: “The sites share the same infrastructure and the same technology.  We have endeavoured to future proof our plants through investing in state-of-the-art technology.”  The new site, has also benefitted massively from an additional £100,000 investment in a fully functional modern laboratory with in-house testing facilities, and boasts Non-Destructive XRF thickness measurement equipment as well as both NSS and CASS corrosion testing facilities. Additional high temperature furnaces for the heat treatment and de-embrittlement of metals have also been installed.  To cope with the demands placed by an increase in workload and to maintain the high standards that Global Metal Finishers have a reputation for, the company has also appointed a new Technical Support Manager and Quality Manager to oversee the existing ISO9001:2008 system and develop and implement ISO14001 as well as manage projects that have PPAP and IMDS requirements.

As one of the few companies that can offer a complete set of services under one roof, they already have considerable competitive advantage and as a result have a solid customer base with a number of blue chip companies.  With the addition of the new facilities, Global Metal Finishers are in an even stronger position.  Ranjit Dudrah said: “With the new facilities we are becoming increasingly confident that we can compete with the Far East on cost, quality and service.”

The site is now enabling the company to expand their customer base from the decorative coatings market into the functional coatings market.  Global Metal Finishers confidently expect their sales to increase between 15% and 20% next year.

The past ten years have seen year on year growth for the firm and continual investment in plant and equipment, which has enabled them to grow substantially.  Their services now include polishing, rack and barrel electroplating, powder coating and wet paint systems.  They specialise in the automotive, tele-communications, petro-chemical, hardware and brewery dispense equipment industries as well as many other sectors, supplying end user companies. The new plant should open doors into new industries such as shop fittings, fasteners and general engineering. They are able to process all finishes on aluminium, brass, zinc, mild steel and stainless steel substrates.

With the addition of the new plant, Global Metal Finishers are well placed to begin new projects for new customers.  Combined with their considerable expertise and impressive year on year growth, despite the difficulties of the recent economic climate, Global Metal Finishers are certainly moving in the right direction and are set for continued success.
